Rebekah Downing

hails from Charlotte, North Carolina where she began her dance training at North Carolina Dance Theatre under the instruction of Patricia McBride. She entered North Carolina School of the Arts in 2005 and received her diploma in ballet in 2009. Rebekah relocated to Rotterdam, Netherlands to attend Codarts Hogeschool voor de Kunsten where she received her BFA in dance performance in 2013. Teachers included Annok-Van Dyke (founder of Counter Technique), Jack Gallagher, and Cristina Planas Leitao (Flying-Low technique). In Europe she toured across the Netherlands with Den Haag based Lonneke Van Leth Productions, and Belgium based choreographer Gulia Mureddu. Rebekah returned back to NC in 2014 and began work as a dance educator. She coaches ballet and contemporary dance to students across the triad, including Wake Forest Community Ballet, The Dance Center of Greensboro, and Edge Performing Arts. She continues to work as a freelance dancer across the country- highlights have been working with Helen Simoneau Danse (NYC), Mari Meade Dance Collective (Brooklyn) and The San Fransisco Symphony. Rebekah has performed repertoire from Jiri Kylian, Twyla Tharp, Helen Simoneau, Alonzo King, Larry Keigwin, Mari Meade, Jose Limon, and Hans Van Manen.
